Visit to Molins Energia
The students of the Architecture and Sustainability Masters held a visit to the‘District Heating’of Molins Energia in Molins de Rei (Barcelona) on Friday 6 March 2015, a company that manages the construction, administration and operation of hot water and Heating from biomass in the residential district La Granja of the same municipality.
In the heat generation plant, there is a biomass storage facility (with a capacity of 150 m3), biomass boilers (where combustion is carried out and, therefore, the generation of heat), the heat storage tanks, the Pumping equipment and natural gas emergency boilers, as well as the automated management and monitoring system. The process is fully automated and is monitored from a control room located on the floor that has a system of alarms and warning to mobile plus a remote control via Internet. The plant has a minimum presence of personnel and is managed by a single operator who performs preventive maintenance and truck unloading.
