Prize for the “Best Scientific Poster” at the 2014 Passivhaus Session

The work of a group of students from the last Master’s Degree course (the 2012-13 edition) won the prize for the “Best Scientific Poster” at the 2014 Passivhaus Session organised by the Passivhaus Zero-Energy Association and the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Aveiro (Portugal).

The academic project for the new headquarters of the IREC in Barcelona, drawn up by Verónica Castillo, Carolina Del Bello, Stefano Pitzalis and Mário Ribeiro, met the requisites established in the guidelines for the competition established by the IREC in 2011. This entailed a project to redesign a building previously projected by students from the 2011-12 edition of the Master’s Degree course.

This project sought to offer an example of an almost zero energy consumption building, with low energy costs, designed according to the principles of integrated energy design. The aim was to promote the objectives of the IREC and its status as a point of reference for energy efficiency and also to incorporate renewable energy systems.

Mário Ribeiro presented the poster and collected the prize.
